The 2024 WTT season has concluded, and the prize money leaderboards are finally revealed. Over 1,000 players earned prize money this season, with 24 athletes crossing the $100,000 mark and 70 players pocketing over $50,000. At premier events like WTT Grand Smash and WTT Champions, players enjoyed VIP hospitality from arrival to departure, ensuring a world-class experience.
Men’s Standings: Wang Chuqin Leads the Way
Wang Chuqin, the World No. 1, dominated the men’s prize money leaderboard with earnings of $261,287. His stellar season included four WTT Series titles, highlighted by victories at two WTT Grand Smash events and the recent WTT Finals in Fukuoka.
Women’s Rankings: Wang Manyu Triumphs
On the women’s side, Wang Manyu made a dramatic late-season surge to clinch the top spot. Her victory at the final WTT Series event in Fukuoka boosted her total earnings to $244,325, narrowly surpassing Sun Yingsha, who ended the season with $234,962.
Harimoto Siblings Shine
The Harimoto siblings showcased their talent on the global stage. Tomokazu Harimoto secured third place on the men’s leaderboard with $164,837, while his sister Miwa took fifth in the women’s standings, earning $143,300.
Global Representation and European Standouts
Athletes from 24 Member Associations were featured in the Top 35 leaderboards, reflecting the sport’s global appeal. Félix Lebrun of France emerged as the highest non-Asian male earner with $147,225, finishing fourth. On the women’s side, Bernadette Szocs of Romania led Europe, amassing $95,612.
A Lucrative Future Ahead
Looking ahead to 2025, the WTT prize pools are set to grow. The WTT Feeder Series will see a 34% increase, with a minimum of $30,000 per event. The WTT Star Contender events’ prize money will rise by 10% to $275,000, while WTT Contender events will see a 6.2% boost to $85,000. The WTT Finals will offer $800,000, marking a 14.3% increase.
Although the WTT Grand Smash and WTT Champions events maintain their minimum prize pools of $1.5 million and $500,000 respectively, the 2025 calendar will feature four WTT Grand Smashes and six WTT Champions tournaments, offering even greater opportunities for players to win big.
